Defiance: A Review

I had done an earlier post on the book this movie is based on here.

Defiance dramatizes the story of the Bielski Partisans during the Second World War. The Bielskis were three brothers, of Polish/ Jewish descent, whose parents were killed by the Nazis. After the death of his parents, Tuvia, the eldest son, determines to save as many Jews from the holocaust as he possibly can. By the end of the war, he had saved over 1,200 lives.

I personally enjoyed the film but, due to the R rating, I do not recommend that this movie be watched as a family. Disgustingly, the language is horrific and there are two scenes that need to be skipped.

The story of the Bielski brothers is very fascinating. I hope that the movie did it justice. Thanks for the review and the warnings!

Spencer: Sure thing.

Sarah: Thanks for the comment. I didn't mention this in the post, but the soundtrack is really good! Joshua Bell plays on every track.

Missed seeing y'all Sunday.

Whoa! You re-did your blog! Looks good! You may want to add a more interesting background though. Plain brown is well... plain.

Chris: Thanks for the feedback!
It's a work in progress right now. I'm changing a few things, so, this is not the final product.

Check back for new stuff in the future! I'm really having a blast doing this.

Hi Stephen, I like the reviews you have posted on hollywood films. However, and this is just me, but with the recent release of so many tremendous Christian films made outside hollywood, why not review those? I personally would like to see your opinion and many other blogger's opinions on movies like "Fireproof", "The Widows Might", documentaries from Franklin Springs, and many others that glorify the family in many, if not all, aspects. Instead of hollywood's few honorable stories with explicit content.

Hi Bo, thanks for the comment.

I appreciate your question.

First of all, I have only done two movie reviews on this blog. This should not be taken as a sudden trend in my posts, as I fully intend to do the majority of my posts on things of a more eternal nature.
Second, I have not seen Fireproof or The Widow's Might yet. This is not because I do not want to see these films, but simply because I have not had the opportunity to do so.
Does this answer your question?

Thanks for reading and I will be happy to answer any further questions.

I like the new look! Although the old header gave me more of a patriotic feeling. They can never make a movie without language and those 'scenes' can they? Mom and I were talking about that today. What joy is there in hearing and seeing ungodly things? Perhaps we can get a clear play dvd player and try this movie out!

Yes, I believe you have answered my question. Thanks. Please do make an effort to watch and recommend truly God-honoring media. If we are to dwell on whatever is lovely and of good repute then we should make an effort to review and recommend God-honoring media.

Bo: Thank you for that encouragment!

Bria: Well thank you!
Perhaps y'all can come over and watch it on our clearplay dvd player when the film comes out on dvd! ;)
